out of line pulley

I have a problem that has got me stumped. how do you correct an out of line bottom pulley that was on line before I lifted the engine out but now back in, all levelled up and secure, the belt is trying to run off over the lip/edge, and It need’s to be right, but how? New bearings maybe? would a belt tensioner help line the belt it up?

The short answer is that level is not necessarily square, either up and down or side to side.



To determine which is the problem, I's take the plugs out and wind the engine backwards. If the belt walks in the opposite direction, then the engine is out of line side to side.



Otherwise, shim the engine on it's mounts til the belt runs true

thanks for the advise on the pulleys, i will have a go this weekend.

but the 101 being poo well the only thing i can say to that is With the exception of the Freelander, never has a Land Rover looked less like a Land Rover .granted but

The 101 Forward Control may be the most able vehicle to have ushered forth from Lode Lane.

No-one can deny that the 101 is ugly but therein lies its beauty. Its body is bereft of a single curve i know

The 101 is second only to the Alvis Stalwart in beauty! (As the Stalwart is amphibious there is a slight hovercraft relevance here).

Maybe, but I bet you wouldn't say 'No' if someone offered you one...



There certainly are some fun vehicles out there. But sadly, most of them need owners with deep pockets and plenty of spare time, and private land/water. A nice Alvis Stalwart will cost you about £6000, then you need a Large Goods Vehicle license to drive them on the roads, and they only do 4mpg(£1 per mile) and they just might not fit into your garage. On the plus side, the spares are cheap!



These toys make hovercrafting look quite sensible!
