Following the UK Government's freedom of information act you can now get

access to speed camera offences registered in the last 12 months.

Did you know that every time your car goes past a speed camera, even

1mph over the set limit it is registered and put on a database?

You only get a ticket if you are way over the limit or, (and this is the

bit that we didn't know) if you receive over 20 'near misses'. Then you

will be classed as a serial offender and get a ticket the next time you

go just over the limit.

This is why you hear of people being done for 32mph in a 30 limit area

whilst others doing 37 do not.

You can check what has been registered against your vehicle at the

following address www.e-database.co.uk You will be asked for a

password but just click on the need a password link and you will be

given one for future use. If there is any data on your vehicle you can

click on the camera window to see a copy of the actual photograph

As a scam Fred it would be more convincing if it didn't place my car 200 miles away from the drive it was sat on all day yesterday.

That got me really scared! It came up with the M6 and doing 85mph...well i was doing about that just last week! Didn't think there were any camera's on the M6 Toll!

Then...i saw the picture! Thanks for the panic mate, really enjoyed thinking that i had been done for speeding (with 6 points within your first 2 years of driving, you really don't want to get done!)! http://hovercraft.org.uk/images/icons/smiley_icons/icon_lol.gif http://hovercraft.org.uk/images/icons/smiley_icons/icon_lol.gif

Needless to say, i have sent it to all my friends!

Thats is absolutly class!

Hello Outlaws from all over the world,

In France the epidemic has arrived too. I ' ve been flashed last year at maybe 82 km/ hfor 80 limit, but that ?;=^*$ radar was so badly tuned that he has shot down about 5 milion cars in three weeks ( yes, has been said in TV report ) France absolute record !

Fortunately, they get rid of most of them, no fine for me.

Only one thing to remember: if you drive fast, keep smiling !

A nice thing about living in a third world country, besides that we cant spell, is..

We get a legal 10% speedo diference buffer kind of like thing, this means that if the limit is 100 km/h then you can leagally go 110 km/h without gettin a ticket.. http://hovercraft.org.uk/images/icons/smiley_icons/icon_biggrin.gif

This realy helps cut down traveling time for long distances... http://hovercraft.org.uk/images/icons/smiley_icons/icon_surprised.gif

In the UK we have a similar thing, basically you get 10% + 2mph on top of the stated speed limit. However at 20, 30 and 40mph the 10% does not apply, just the +2mph.

So, if you were doing 70mph, you can legally do 79mph without getting caught or getting a ticket, so most people cruise at 80mph down the motorway and none of them get tickets, unless that 80mph cruise is not suitable for the road conditions/dangerous driving, etc!

Why do they make the laws so confusing! http://hovercraft.org.uk/images/icons/smiley_icons/icon_confused.gif http://hovercraft.org.uk/images/icons/smiley_icons/icon_rolleyes.gif
