Back in the mid 1970's, I saw a British TV kid show, that featured various neighborhood kids with different talents and personalities. In one particular episode, the mechanically-inclined kid decides the group would build a hovercraft after witnessing an N4 operating. That entire episode was about them building a hovercraft (it wasn't a real one). That show is what sparked my interest so many years ago.

What was the name of that show?

Could it have been the film "Hoverbug"

If it was about " neighborhood kids" it couldn't have been British, we only have neighbourhood kids http://hovercraft.org.uk/images/icons/smiley_icons/icon_surprised.gif) We'll get you speaking English soon Terry http://hovercraft.org.uk/images/icons/smiley_icons/icon_surprised.gif)

I suspect it was a programme called 'Here Come the Doubledeckers' about 7 children that lived on a double decker London bus. A very musical programme, but it followed their adventures and involvement in a variety of science type projects. I think that Jane Seymour made her television debut in the show.

Sounds like the very first episode of the Double Deckers.

"Brains decides to build a hovercraft and enlists the help of the others to construct it. While the gang takes a break, Tiger innocently and accidently finds herself in the driver seat and the hovercraft "takes off". Unable to stop, Tiger speeds through town creating quite a commotion." http://hovercraft.org.uk/images/icons/smiley_icons/icon_lol.gif

If you can remember the DDs then you'll love:
