Hello,

Just thought I would say hello ( as a new member ) and tell you about the new service we are going to be operating on the North Wales Coast.

Under M.C.A. Regulation and Certification, we are starting a tourist and corporate passenger service from 01.04.07.

Our craft is an AIR VEHICLES TIGER 12 recently refitted to 2007 specs. Its 28 feet long, 12.5 feet wide and has a payload of 998KG. Its powered by a 248BHP AMC V8.

Our intention is to provide an opportunity of a "hovercraft experience" to the general public.

We have several sites to operate from but the main operation will be based at Llandudno and extending as far as Rhyl and Penmaenmawr.

Our site is www.hovercraftrental.co.uk.

Nice picture.

What would you call the skirt system?

I see an inflatable sponson with a bag skirt attached to the bottom and bow.

Can you show a stern shot?

I have this craft in one of my old Jane's Suface Skimmer's books, but I have no details on how the lift air enters the skirt system and plenum.

Does most of the lift air just empty out the bottom from the lift fans above?

All I could find is this on short notice:

Hi Geraint

I'm new to the forum too.

Thanks for the photo of the craft...this looks like the first Hovercraft I ever worked on about 25 years ago!

I worked for the MOD in Shoeburyness and we used a pair of these to patrol the coast before we fired tank guns into the sea!

We had all sorts of trouble with their performance until we fitted a "bunch of bananas" exhaust manifold and then the guys were fighting to fly them!

Just to report:

Sea Trials passed with no problems at all.

The craft behaved perfectly and proved very very responsive.
