one series of simple jobs turns into a mo-ajor http://hovercraft.org.uk/images/icons/smiley_icons/icon_smile.gif near on disaster!!!

I fitted my fuel tank (properly) last night (cheers Kev :thumb:)

then i was wondering why my fuel tank looked odd... hmmm no fuel line.... where is it? it was there a minute ago... hmm there it is in two pieces... hmm what did i cut it on.... closer examination showed no clues, so i flexed the pipe (as you do)

it snapped in half http://hovercraft.org.uk/images/icons/smiley_icons/icon_eek.gif http://hovercraft.org.uk/images/icons/smiley_icons/icon_eek.gif a quick check of the remaining pipes..... and apart from the engine to pulse pump, all had gone brittle, and worse... failed... so now i was awash with petrol ,

so i dug out some repleacement fuel line (lucky or what) and reconnected everything,,, went to prime the system, and the poxt primer bulb let go !!! ARGGHHH ... so i had to strip it all down again http://hovercraft.org.uk/images/icons/smiley_icons/icon_sad.gif still the new bits should be here tommorow :)http://hovercraft.org.uk/images/icons/smiley_icons/icon_smile.gif

cant understand why the other fuel line failed, unless it wasnt fuel line? although it was on a marine tank when i bought it.

still the replacement stuff is all fibre wrapped and reinforced:)http://hovercraft.org.uk/images/icons/smiley_icons/icon_smile.gif

Quite a lot of the various tubes that get used for fuel do go stiff. Fabric covered rubber always used to be the standard, but it is difficult to keep the ends tidy and you can't inspect the rubber.

I tried some tubing from the karting world but that went stiff after a year. Then I started using some blue polyurethane tube from the aviation world and its magic. Still good year after year.
