Hi all.



I've just bought a Robin EC25PS with anciliaries - only a few mins running.

Does anyone know where i can get a manual for one of these? Running in procedures would be good.



It came on this mounting plate for microlight mounting (the guy decided not to use the engine for some reason).

I have been thinking..what about mounting the engine inside the hull?

Some size comparisons for the engine and the space in the hull. I thought i might be able to make a frame that mounts onto the base of the hull in the front space. The engine would have it's output directly in the lift duct.



Due to the prop output being quite lopsided on the engine, it look like the engine would have to come inside the cockpit almost. This would make a really neat solution i think.



There are some issues i have thought of:

hard to access it

stopping on water might drown it - snorkels could be used

would it seriously impede the airflow? cos essentially the bit where it would be isn't being used.

would crashing head on result in it being shoved into the cockpit?

starting it would be a tad difficult, but the starter cord could be extended through to the cockpit.

back to the water - i'm guessing drenching a hot engine would seize it with thermal (un)expansion??? or would the electrics just get wrecked?



I could make a simple jacket that allowed it to be kept separate whilst channeling air through it perhaps?

The EC25PS will not need a drive reduction to use it as a lift engine. You can drive it straight off the end of the crank.



Paul Hibbard used one for many years like that. He also has a second hand engine frame for sale which may be suitable, for mounting it straight on top of the duct.



I used to have a manual somewhere, i'll have a look.

Ok i didn't know that.



What RPM does it peak at? The lift fan should be at about 3500rpm-4000rpm right?



I assumed it was one of those high revving ones that needs the belt reduction to bring it to something reasonable. (essentially i can't find any literature for it anywhere.)



I would like to make an adapter for the fan onto the engine tomorrow, so anyone with knowledge please say asap!http://hovercraft.org.uk/images/icons/smiley_icons/icon_smile.gif

hibby can be contacted from there. He should be able to tell you all you need to know about the EC25PS. (lift frame is also listed about half way down). Your crank adaptor will need a 27-30-30 taper on it.
