Nate kawa doesn't have any of these blades and none of the Hascon distributors here in the US have any information about them. Is it the same at Vortex? Hascon either has these things in secret development or they quietly buried the project because it was last June when Kawa announced their existence.

well either they were no good and have gone back to the drawing board or they are too good and the military have taken hold of the project. so the hunt must go on for these mysterious blades. good challenge for a forum.

Hi there all,

Vortex here...

They are Hascon blades and no they have not been released yet except for some sample blades to tempt the market. Max diameter is only 760mm at present with no plans to go bigger. Main advantage is supposed!! to be that they are quieter. We will have some in for test as soon as they are available.

Will keep you posted

It will be interesting to see if they are any quieter than normal blades in a hovercraft application. My understanding is that the unusual shape is there to reduce conventional fan noise (specifically trailing edge noise?). But the NoiseCam work appears to show that virtually all craft have turbulence noise maybe 6-10db over and above any conventional fan noise due to our habit of putting things too close to the fan. I don't think the unusual shape will solve that turbulence noise. So the challenge will be to eliminate turbulence noise first then maybe use unusual shaped fans to still further reduce the overall fan noise.
