Jess,

Why not make some out of red material and wash them with your mothers white sheets.

I hope she doesn't read this http://hovercraft.org.uk/images/icons/smiley_icons/icon_surprised.gif)

Unfortunately for you Paul I am reading this, I rather feel that what you actually mean is buy some white skirt material and wash it with my red sheets (not that I have any).

As Jess said this is a serious question and she was hoping for some sensible replies. She is a young person attempting her first craft build and obviously does not have the knowledge of more experienced craft builders, all she needs is pointing in the right direction, not belittling.

How colourfast is skirt material?

it may be a case of making a few pockets out of a darker colour, and seeing if bleaching or a disaster washing additive may be a potential solution.

If its just bogo standard ripstop nylon but in a heavier grade, try contacting a local sailmaker, they usually have loads of varying colours.

if you can find out what grade or what the material is, i can have a chat to my next door neighbour, she works for a sailmaking company, and may be able to point me / you in the right direction

As an aside,

have you looked at Pauls pictures?

are the following near what your looking for?

Claydon 2001 Pic 010061

Black Ditch 2002 Pic 020235

Claydon 2002 Pic 020052

or are they more purple than pink?

Didn't mean to touch a nerve there Jess and Catherine. I have absolutely no idea where to get it from. Maybe ask Louise if their supplier has other colours available?

Failing that Jamie may have an idea, ask him at the Comps meeting tomorrow.

Personally I wouldn't use anything other than black neoprene coated nylon but if style is more important than performance...well..

I'll do that thanks jon, the nerve is less sensitive now, was throbing earlier.

Belittle Jess? I think you know me better than that Catherine.

When you calm down, try Fabrics-n-Stuff 01934 414166 (Weston-super-mare) or email hartsfabric&#64;yahoo.com (California) and ask about their Neon Hot Pink Ripstop Nylon. It might be of suitable weight but shipping costs could be prohibitive unless they have a UK agent.

Hello Jess

Nice to hear you want to be noticed!

We had 'pink' on the craft a while ago. (Bob says it was purple - but you know blokes and colours!) He says he got his from Richard Wiles - but as I say, it was a while ago.

<font color="deeppink"><font size="3">Catherine - you could try those 'colour catcher' things in your wash if everything goes pink!!!!!!
