Greetings from Warsaw Poland. We hope to bring you live coverage of the first ever Polish round of the European Hovercraft Championships later today and tomorrow. Racing is scheduled to start at 1300 CET - 1200 noon UK time. Coverage will be on www.live.raceresults.info (http://www.live.raceresults.info)
We have an excellent internet link and work is underway to extend it by cable 300m through the forest.
The site is a large lake 20miles north of Warsaw set in a pine forest. Land sections of the course are beaches of soft sand!! Hopefully fire brigade are coming along to damp it down.

Oops! Just saw the first craft running. It wasn't the course I was looking at. Doesn't seem that bad after all!

when can we expect the racing to start?

22-Aug-09, 12:35 PM
BOB does your stream also run fine then freeze for a few seconds then carry on.
Keith Oakley
22-Aug-09, 12:35 PM
It was planned to run on the soft sand but course has been limited to 2 small bits of grass - thank goodness.

22-Aug-09, 12:45 PM
BOB, what explorer are you using, I am on Google Crome, maybe that's what is slowing it down.
atters
22-Aug-09, 12:48 PM
thanks, will enjoy, how do I change the stream quality?
Bob Rennick
22-Aug-09, 12:49 PM
I'm also using Chrome. This is the best reception I've ever had. I used to get these freezes, I traced to my IP provider 'throttling' video. I suspect it's still too early in the morning here for that to be an issue.
This is the best quality I've had since Keith has started his foray into Internet broadcasting.

My connection speed jumps around between 250 and 350.
Keith Oakley
22-Aug-09, 12:55 PM
We have a 2mbit/s uplink here - compared to our usual 300kbits at best. So I am sending out video at 550kbits which is twice the normal quality. That will give folk with poor download speeds (inc Atters I suspect) some probs with freezes. If that prob is common let me know and I'll reduce the speed. For the moment for those that can get it ok put it on full screen (click on black square) and enjoy

Do you have a timetable of events for today & tomorrow? I'm afraid I have a few things that need doing today but I'd still like to watch F50 & F1.

NO, Giving up. My connection is just not good enough. I keep getting like a slide show effect, The sound is fine but the picture keeps jumping. Funny how it only does it when there is a race going, when nothing is happening, its 100%.
Later..

22-Aug-09, 04:04 PM
Come on, don't give up! You're describing what I was receiving during the UK races: perfect between races, and *lots* of trouble during the race.
Hang in there!

22-Aug-09, 04:21 PM
Thanks for the feedback guys. The racing is well behind programme. The wind is getting up here and its a race between an oncoming rainstorm and it getting dark!
Hibby isn't here so for the first time (ever?) there isn't a single British craft at a European event. Mind it is 1025 miles from Maidstone Kent - 20 hours of driving time each way over several days. Nothing for the Americans I know but...

We are back on live from Warsaw covering the practise. Race Director Mike Rausch admits it doesn't really run to time! Big prob yesterday was marker buoys drifting off in wind. I gather bigger rocks have been fitted!
Weather overcast but winds light at present.

also hi and good luck to the Halls/Ostermans :)

Jaroslav's hovercraft is an FS conversion from Michael Metzner's old Pintail F1 'bubble' craft.
