Hi Folks
Just to let you know that John has been diagnosed with cancer of the lining of his right lung (what Steve McQueen died of) caused by working with asbestos in his twenties. Prognosis is prtetty grim but John has been accepted for surgery to remove the linoing of his lung, part of his diaphragm and the pericardium. This still only gives a life expectancy f two years, but as it is new and very cutting edge research surgery they have only done it on 100 people since they started 5 years ago. John is going into hospital on 6th January and will be in for at least two weeks. We are all hoping and praying that he wil come through and in his words be one of the statisitics that outlive the prognosis.

We are going to have the best Christmas ever with our kids and grandchild and hope to see you all next season. Thanks to everyone who has been in touch or to see John, the club is as ever a great community.

Love
Deborah

Spoke to John & his wife Debbie earlier. John is going into Hospital tomorrow, and has his operation on the 6th.
They will remove the lining of his lungs, the sack around the heart & the inside of his chest.
All fairly serious. He is going to be in intensive care for a few days but is looking forward to making good use of his new motorhome as soon as he is well enough.

Had a chat with Jane tonight.
John has had his operation (6Hrs).
He has woken up and is in critical care at the moment. As expected he is a bit uncomfortable. Still a long way to go though but its looking positive.

John is recovering well. He is not happy because he is going to loose his top totty when he is transfered out if intensive care onto a normal ward tomorrow.
Recovery has been going well and he is starting to get frustrated because they are not releasing him yet (be another couple of weeks before that is likely).
All loking good for John to be back out on the race circuit start of next season..
