Hi all, me again...

Sorry to be thick but can someone tell me how to use the above wire tacho please?

I do not understand the instructions...

Is the wire meant to rotate uniformly at the correct revolutions?

Hi Brian,
With the engine running rotate the dial that extends the vibrating wire until the largest amount of movement is observed then just read off the revs on the scale.

I just rotate the dial to what I am expecting to see then you only have to move it in or out a little way to confirm the rpm.

Hope that helps!

place the tacho on the engine, then turn the disk to extend the wire and when it vibrates over the widest arc, read the revs off the scale.

Excellent, thank you gentlemen.

Mostly right but wind it out too far then wind it back in till you get a large swing, that way you overcome bunching in the coil

Thank you Ewan, I will do that.
