The Briggs cyclonic air filter elements are ridiculously expensive... anyone got suggestions for a source at more reasonable cost? Presumably its an industrial filter...

Ian, have you got a Briggs part number for the original? BTW Ford 1.8D engine oil filters fit Briggs .

Jon - sounds good if you don't need it...

Phil - The part numbers are 841497 & 821136 cleaner & pre-cleaner. They want 53 for the pair - plus delivery of course. I worked out that alternate oil filters fit! I just figured Briggs can't be the only people using this air filter?

How about a Land Rover oil bath type - cheap and easily capable of 35 bhp. I used to use one on a rotax 503 with no problems.

It turns out the filter is a Donaldson unit:

Pre-cleaner: P821575
Sec Cleaner:P822858

There are Mann equivalents:

Pre-cleaner: C 1196
Sec Cleaner: CF 75

None of which helps so far... I havn't found any place I can get either from at a reasonable price. I can't believe these really sell for 25 each!

I'll keep looking...
