Keeping your mouth shut, people might think you're stupid...Open it and they'll know you are.
All I know about hovercraft is what I've SEEN on YouTube. So I'm just swanning around trying to think of questions to ask you guys.

Thank you all for your most welcoming replies.
I live at Hoylake on the Wirral peninsular, smack bang in the middle of a wonderful coastline with vast beaches stretching to New Brighton,Formby,Southport, Blackpool and beyond in one direction, and in the other direction West Kirby, then across the Dee estuary to Talacre beach and the North Wales coast going on forever.
So that explains it.I'm now dreaming of a nice comfortable cruiser.Perhaps big enough for 3or4 adults. Oh John! Keep on dreaming.
My son Richard on the other hand is more into the racer version,so maybe we'll start off small 'till we get to understand what it's all about. Let's face it,I have'nt even SEEN one in real life yet. So I've got a LOT of question askering to do.
I read the post about the ten mistakes with interest, and I shall read it several times again.
Thank you all once again.
Best regards,

Jon Pert

Hi John,

We are racing at the Cholmondeley Pageant of Power. You could come along and have a look around some craft. As you are a club member you could even camp in the clubs area, details are here (http://www.hovercraft.org.uk/showthread.php?23598-Cholmondeley-Castle-a-sneek-peek-and-more-info) and in the next magazine.

This would be your closest event this year.

We are doing a bit of club PR work in Evesham at the Balloon Festival this weekend. There will be cruisers and racers there for you to have a look at. We would be more than happy to do a bit of hovernerding with you to help you make your mind up! Evesham info is here (http://www.hovercraft.org.uk/showthread.php?23477-Balloon-Festival-Evesham-12th-13th-June).

Welcome to the club, it's full of great people who all enjoy hovers and having a great time with them. Hope to meet you soon.

Hello & welcome

Take a look at this: Buyers Guide (http://www.hovercraft.org.uk/showthread.php?6-buyers-guide)

Racing and cruising craft are really quite different - so you need to go to a race & cruise so that you can decide what you prefer! In this respect, the Evesham do would be ideal as both craft will be there

Feel free to ask any questions that occur to you, we'll do our best to answer.

I can't grope my way around the forums too well yet but I think something is happening at Cholmondeley this weekend. If this is so can someone please tell me as it would be a great opportunity for me to see my first hovercraft and chat to people about the workings. Would I need membership ID or windscreen sticker to get into the site?

Not this weekend - take a look at the calendar for upcoming events (top left - just under the Forum tab)

Cholmondeley is 17th - 18th July. I posted a link to the thread in my previous reply. This thread has the window sticker attached. The window sticker will also be int he mag.

Hi Jon.
I only joined last Monday so I haven't got a sticker or a mag. You say it's in the thread but I'm sorry I don't know what that means.

Hi John,

Click the link below. It will take you to the thread that has details about the Colmondeley race meeting on 17th -18th July. My fist posting in the thread shows a map of the race course and when you scroll down you will see a PDF attachment called Cholmondeley Castle 17th 18th July 2010.pdf (http://www.hovercraft.org.uk/attachment.php?attachmentid=5575&d=1275597736) . Click on that attachment and it will give you details and the pass that you cut out and put in your window. This article will also be in the next magazine.

Hi John,

You're more than welcome to come to Evesham.

Are you coming for the day or planning on staying over the night? We are getting very tight for space now but if you have a small tent then I think there would be room, just.

If you are just coming down for the day then entry to the site is free of charge anyway. When you get to our arena you can ask anyone for me and I'll come and meet you and show you some craft and introduce you to some people. We have both types of craft (cruising and racing) attending so it would be a great opportunity to have a look round them.

Let me know your plans.

Hi again Jon.
It's too far to go for the day so I'd need to stay for the weekend. My son's got the camping gear and he's also a certified security officer. So if you need his help in any way he'd be only too pleased.
What about access stickers? Will I need one?

Jon Pert

You won't need an access sticker as there aren't any!

My phone number is on this thread. http://www.hovercraft.org.uk/showthread.php?23594-Evesham-Balloon-Festival-access-information

I will be on site from Friday lunchtime onwards. If you give me a call in the afternoon I can give you further info then.

If you are coming down on Saturday morning then the earlier the better please so we can get you into our area before the public get let in.

As I mentioned we are quite tight on space so how big is your tent?

Look forward to hearing from you.
