I've often wondered about what might happen with a catastrophic engine frame failure. This news article should focus the attention on those that build their own craft....

We should all give the engineering at the back end much more respect than some of us do.

It also shows how important it is to comply with the construction regulations.
They are there for good reason.

Hi Nick, I do not think the engineering was at fault in this case...

He did NOT have a guard in place as I understand it, and was hit by a moving part, not decapitated as it says in some papers! (The Sun for instance! which also shows a 60 tonne(ish) craft with the caption "Hovercraft like this one")

If we could find the Authorities concerned perhaps we could guide them to the HCGB and WHF construction regulations.
