Hi All

I'm organising a cruise to run alongside the National Race Meeting at Fawley on the weekend of 25th/27th August.

I'll finalise details once I've made more plans as I need to glean some information from local members (you know who you are, your phone will be ringing soon!) so please treat this as a 'save the date' notice.

The basic idea is that by sharing the event, we can enjoy the well organised social side of the meeting as well as having a great spot to operate from. There's several nearby launching spots we can use. You'll incur a small charge for camping and all attendees will need to be current HCGB members.

The camping/race meeting is at

The Gang Warily Community Centre
Newlands Rd
Blackfield
Southampton
Hampshire
SO45 1GA

This will be a 'deep water' cruise on the Solent with - weather permitting - a trip to the Isle of Wight. The Solent is an incredibly busy area and the conditions can be challenging. Please prepare accordingly, including Small Ships Registration and if you don't know your markers and colregs....please read a book between now and then! :)

If you're interested in coming along, please drop me a mail. russ(at)flyingfishhovercraft.co.uk or call me on 0758four 996552 Once I have your details, I'll keep you updated with developments and refined plans.

Great Idea, Russ.

Fawley is on a Bank Holiday weekend so there could be 3 days of Cruising fun!!

Think we've got four so far, I reckon we'll get 8-10 craft without too much trouble. Its very weather dependent down there tho!

I absolutely promise the weather will be beautiful. I've prayed to half a dozen gods - little fat one, multi-arm, one true, feller with a mountain and a twig in my garden. They're all in agreement for that weekend....it's gonna be lovely. Long as we sacrifice a virgin on the Saturday morning. :)

You guys better keep an eye out for the Cowes-Torquay Powerboat Race that weekend, with about twenty 80-100mph boats speeding down the Solent.

It should be a fun weekend.

Maybe I ought to invest in a suitable craft instead corporate ones?
