2002 World Championships USA.

Report 1 - 18 September 2002.

News Flash:

* Chris Barlow was taken ill and hospitalised. He was not able to make time trials.
* Weather sunny, 31°C, 97%RH
* All the Americans are going around saying "Holy ***t, those UK F1s can't be going that fast!"

The day started well with a very lively Driver's Briefing and much debate over flags. Started out with stars & stripes, green, yellow, red, black, white, plus others!! Common sense prevailed and all agreed to adopt UK/EHF system with stars & stripes for starting.

The number of laps now agreed as:
FJ - 4
F25 - 6
FS, F3, F2 - 8
F1 - 10

Time trial system established as one warm-up lap, one "flying" lap (to be timed) and one cool-down lap - similar to the system used in LUCON.

A new/revised point system is also to be implemented:
1st - 25pts
2nd - 20pts
3rd - 16pts
4th - 13pts
5th - 11pts
6th - 10pts
then down by 1pt each place to 0.

Time trials went well until F1. Red flag for Luke Sedzikowski on the land section. The spectacular roll-over looked serious, but fortunately he walked away. There was some damge to his craft but he should be ready for tomorrow.
