Default New committee names

I reckon it's time that our committees had some new names....

Well, the "Competitions Committee" do not control all competitions, the "Cruising & Coastal Events Committee" do not control any coastal events, so what should they now be called?

    Any suggestions?

It's interesting that before the advent of the coastal championship we had so many committees (Council, CACEC, Comps & its sub committees, racing scrutineers and cruising scrutineers, I guess around 50 people, and none of those groups actually organise any events!!

People, local governments and statutory bodies I deal with find it weird that we don't have organising committees for each of our events. Yes, it's all down to the efforts of individuals. Even within branches it's probably only 2 or 3 people who do most of the work organising events.

If all those dedicated individuals decided not to bother for one year, what would those 50+ committee members have to talk about? Just a thought

You make some valid points Gav.

My suggestions would be along the lines of

    Cruising Commitee

    Inland Championmship Commitee

Coastal Championship Commitee (already got that one!)

It is important to point out however, that tho the actual commitees may not orgainse events, many of the people sitting on them are instrumental (and in many cases, the backbone of) the organisation of various events.

The structure of the event planning does seem remarkably 'uncentralised' - approaching venues as an individual rarher than as part of a recognised body within the club does seem unprofessional and like you say, site owners would rather deal with the organising body.

Interesting thread, lets hope it gets the replies it deserves....!

i think gavins point is that CACEC only organise cruises, rather than race or competitive events. So it may as well be called the 'crusing commitee'.

Again- not so, we plan reliability trials, treasure hunts etc, all of which have competitive elements. Do make an effort to be less elitist chaps

Wow, when is this going to happen then?

I look forward to seeing more events on the calendar, even more choice for everyone.

The best way to have reliability trials is to do a one hour endurance race then go for a four hour cruise in the same craft. Oh, we're already doing that aren't we?

BTW, "Ewan" is a Filipino word meaning "I don't know".
