As you have a finger skirt, I assume you're thinking of changing to a bag (look at the Vortex serices pages to see bag skirts). On smooth surfaces, the bag is very much more efficient than fingers, but when the surface is rough eg waves or undulating ground, they lose out to fingers.

A bag skirt needs to be carfully designed to be good, Keith at Vortex is probably the guy that has most experience of developing good bags, contact hime through Vortex

    No Idea where that is.

I am always looking for a friend in South Africa, but sounds like you are from Sweden or somewhere.

    Sorry.

I'd stay with the fingers if I were you though, much better.

Here is a link to someone else who has tried this once before you:

    The Kurt Skirt

If you have any questions about this particular design, Kurt Peterson is still around. He is currently in the process of bringing some of the "big giants", 150+ passenger Hovercrafts, back here in the US. You can reach him at Atlas Hovercrafts.

    Hello Kiwi,

On the raid - Rhône, we are 2 friends with same hovercraft, except engines, mine is 25 HP Kholer, and Benoît has a 45 HP Rotax.

First, we had finger skirts ( double crown ) , last year , Benoit made for both of us bag skirts, following Keith design.

    Results:

good with 45hp, more stable .

bad with 25 HP, even if better on grass, low speed , diving nose first, consumption X 3,and so on.

    Morality,

If you want to switch to bag skirt , you MUST use a hull totally dedicated to bag skirt, adapting is a bet.

This year, I' ll have my finger skirt back.
