    Default Re: repacking silencers

I Have repacked a couple of mufflers for my cruising craft. What I have used and it works Ok is a light piece of woven glass fibre around the steel perforated tube, this stops the packing material blowing out through the holes then I use Fibreglass house inusaltion as the filler, cut a piece so with some compression it will fill the silencer wrap the outside with wire to hold it togeather or wrap it in a layer of flywire wich helps to keep it togeather when reinstalling into the silencer.
