I've seen one of these fitted direct to the crank of an old Villiers 197cc single cylinder 2 stroke engine (from an Invacar I believe). ou might find something somewhere on the power/rpm of this engine?

Check this out from his description this looks like the engine and craft they were designed for just look down the for sale section and you will find the Spectra craft in need of a lot of tlc. It looks like it has a reduction through a belt.

There were so many of these picked up from some liquidation auction for 50p or something we used several of them as 'swords' by the 'guard of honour' at club members weddings. More used for for that than on craft. They're slightly higher dia but as I recall narrower in chord to the cropped tip version made by Hordern Richmond (HR) for running in ducts on the Hoverhawk with a 20 bhp wankel so you'll probably get away with 20bhp.

Incidentally the Light Hovercraft Handbook quotes the 197cc Villiers 9e as 10bhp at 3100rpm, and the 250cc Villiers 31A as 11.5bhp at 3200rpm. (used to be 7 to buy a new barrel and piston upgrade kit to convert a 9e to a 31A and get 1.5 more precious bhp...)

According to the hoverhawk brochure I have the engines developed 20 bhp at 5000 rpm and the props were direct on the crank they also state a total static thrust from both engines @ 170 lbs.
