I remember when DONAR was placed on eBay several years ago - the moulds - design rights - and the only existing prototype. Think the starting price was $2 Million?! Needless to say it didn't sell... ABS decided to hold onto the project.

I've had some contact with the company chairman of late and it seems it may not end there as a one off concept

I've got quite a few pics if anybody's interested!!

I just noticed that the bow is very boat-like and may be able to "split" a larger wave.

The rear view of the rudders at an angle is cool looking and functional.

A handsome craft, I've always liked it.

Thats Hot ! I think I need to redesign mine to incorporate some of these features ! The front is too much like a car but the fans are cool, almost worth building a cruising craft just to copy the fan layout !

Quite like it - looks good, bit star trekky but yeah, could see myself in one.

    120km/h though - hmmmm....

I also thought the boat-like bow was a good idea as it protects the front skirt from wave impact. On second thought, however, it would be a liability when coming onto land over a small bank or travelling over a small dip - it effectively reduces the hover height to about 6 inches or so at the nose - not nearly enough on such a large craft!

A looped metal spring band covered in a flexible material and looking like "boat-bow-shaped" would work better.

    Has anyone tried this?

I recently re-read the chapter about the "bulbous bow" in Liang Yun, Alan Bliault's book "The theory and design of Air Cushion Craft". This feature was added for anti-plow reasons and to replace the tiny spray inducing bow skirt holes they had to install on the SRN-6.

I haven't seen anything like that.

On looking at the video again, about 1/3 way through, you can see the craft bury it's nose into the water causing spray from the hull to make a turn. It looks a bit like the Sevtec partitioned cushion that allows the front compartment to be deflated to brake or turn.

It's quite an interesting craft both in looks and technology. The 'deformable' rudders look very effective.
