No a Thames raid isn't feasible due to complications over licensing and speed limits and anyway it is too highly developed to be very 'hover friendly'. A Severn raid is feasible and was done by brother Barry plus a colleague in '72 in a Pindair skima. - from near the source in deepest Wales down to Cardiff then back up to Bristol. There's a regular cruise on the river near Gloucester each year. However the local wine isn't so good as on the Rhone.......

    Hi, Welshy.

The Irish Hovercraft Club is looking into the feasability of a Shannon raid at the moment. As 2007 will be our first year of organising events, the Shannon project will most likely be in 2008.

However, for '07, we will be running cruise events on the Barrow and the Foyle, a couple of coastal and at least one lake event.

When we have arrangements in place for the Shannon, we will post and issue on open invitation.

    Slán,

    David.

The Raids probably not going to run for much longer, so the shannon ideas a winner!

Okay, so its Guiness instead of Red Wine.

    Rain instead of sunshine.

    Wind instead of calm....

but i'm well up for that - Good luck with the plans.

Russ, things could be worse. We are thinking of limiting participation to only home-made aluminium craft.

    Slan,
