    Default Fuji Robin EC44PM

    Hi all

Need help on a Fuji Robin EC44PM engine circa 1982. This engine has a faulty CDI unit, with no indication of type number on the CDI metal case (probably rusted off years ago). Does anyone know what type of CDI unit would fit this engine, and where one could be obtained. Also, would anyone have a drawing of the engine electrics, I have downloaded a manual from an American website but the circuit is incomplete.

    Many thanks

    Is the manual this one?

(Don't call them American...they're Canadian, and they don't like it )

I've got an EC25 and this seems to be the only generic manual around, shame the pics are such low quality .

    Hi Toby

Thanks for the info. Yes that is the manual which I downloaded but the circuit (page 7)is not clear how the black kill wire is connected and also the magneto wiring is slightly different on my model. The CDI drawing (page 5) is unfortunately blank. What type of CDI unit does your machine have?

    Thanks

    Koolamundo.

Have you done the resistance checks as per section 4 CDI UNIT?

If using a Digital multi meter you may get slightly different readings.

I had this version of manual when brought my ec44.

Thought I had brought a pup until I changed the wiring to the black wire on the Cdi to opposite to what i had it.

He He He spent a while checking all the wiring.

Coil resistance etc. As no spark at the plugs.

disconnected black wire from earth pulled once all sprang into life.

Have you had the engine running before?

The simple things in life cause big problems.

In this case the simple thing was me.lol

I'm not actually using CDI - mine's a single cylinder using coil ignition, so the wiring is fairly straight forward!

Sorry I can't really help you on this

    Thanks Cadfly

I have tried the engine with the black wire disconnected and grounded and still no spark. Do you have a model or type number on your CDI unit?

I had a CDI fault with my EC44 also, and there are no part numbers on these units. Try this website from USA.

    http://www.justatv.com/pages/snowmob...ctures/cdi_pic torials.htm

    http://www.mfgsupply.com/SnowPolCDI.html

    or www.regulatorrectifier.com

These engines were used in polaris snowmobiles so if you can find a CDI unit for a 440 Fan cooled polaris snowmobile it should be ok.

My engine is an EC44 2PM which has the CDI unit bolted onto the from blower housing. I ended up using a CDI & Coil from an earlier EC44-PM-02 with seperate CDI & Coil units and it works fine.

    Hi Hornet

Many thanks for the info, I've not seen two of these websites before so hopefully they'll have spares to fit.

    Bye
