Default A first for the club, and mankind...

    Hello all,
Sorry to place this here but I think this warrants a mention as I suppose most of you will not be aware of it taking place.

On Saturday 22nd May 2010, 8 craft took part in the first hovercraft trip along the river Avon and passed under the Clifton Suspension Bridge!

This was the result of 6 months planning by Ross Floyd.

A major achievement was also the fact that I had the pleasure of carrying The Lord Mayor of Bristol with me! This must be a first for the club?

The first clip shows Ross in the front craft as he travels under the bridge, unfortunately you can not see the bridge at that time, only the shadow! It is a long way up! However you can see the bridge as we round the turn in the river at the beginning of the film.

The next clip shows me dropping off the Mayor after getting him a little muddy after trying to climb the 18’ deep mud bank, and failing!

We ended the trip at a rather nice small waterfall, which I can not remember the name of, after negotiating a “shopping trolley” obstacle course, then we all headed back to the sailing club that kindly allowed us to use their ramp although maybe not again!

There were no breakdowns and the weather was fantastic.

I must also say a BIG thank you to Ross for all his hard work! A day I shall remember for a long time!

I/we have load of pictures but I have to sort them first!

    Nice!

Not sure about that yellow/brown stuff you were hovering over though - the frothy bits looked a bit suspicious (I'll let your imagination fill in the details)

For those who are interested I have now, eventually, published the pictures taken by me, Ross and family.

I do have loads of others but these are the "selected" items. If you do find some you like feel free to contact me and I can email any others of you and your craft, just too many to put on my website!

Films will take a little longer.....
