    Default Pads or Skids?

Ok, I've always heard that landing pads are better for racing craft and long skids are best for cruisers. any thoughts?

if you have deep skids, i.e 25mm or so deep you know they are there the first time you try and stop side ways as they can dig in. However if you know not to stop whilst side slipping then not a problem.

my first two craft, one being single seater the next being 2-3 seater both had 1" alu box section runners the full lenght of the craft. with no problems what so ever.

my new craft (currently under construction) has 35mmx25mm pressure treated wood runners, glassed into the base of the hull structure, these have 38x3mm alu flat bar screwed to them.

i have seen many cruising craft with runners, some deeper than others, but i would not go deeper than 25mm high.

as for racing cannot coment, but doubt they would be much use landing on a grass.
