Default Using sms to call the emergency services - sms 999

The emergency 999 service is now available using SMS from mobile phones.

Sending an SMS message requires less signal than making a voice call, so could be a 'option of last resort' if your signal strength is low.

Apart from it's design use for deaf people, it could also be useful if in wind/noise and a voice message is difficult, or if someone is in a vulnerable situation and needs to alert the police without anyone around them knowing that they are doing so.

You have to register before you can use it, but this is VERY useful!
