Default May 14th at Jake's Place

    May 14th 2011

Do you have an interest in hovercraft?
    Do you have a hovercraft?
    Can you talk about hovercraft?
Do you want to share your passion with others?

If the answer is yes to any of these 4 simple questions then please contact me.
We are having a ‘hovercraft day’ at Jake’s Place.
We want as many different craft as possible on static display to show off the variety of uses. We need the owners to talk to members of the public about their craft. If you have some work to do on a craft, come along and share it.
Please invite at least 5 friends, or family, each to come and see/talk to club members and have a ride/lesson.
We will be giving rides (£3) and driving lessons (£15) all day on a first come basis. Due to noise restrictions we can only run the six designated low noise craft at any time. All proceeds, after costs, will go to the Midlands Branch of the Hoverclub of Great Britain.
This event will have a large amount of press coverage both before and during it, so we are hoping for a high public turnout.
There will be no pressure to meet any time deadlines (be it race start or location reached) this weekend, so come and relax and talk hovercraft.
Jake and Anne have kindly allowed members to stay overnight if they wish. Phil (the burger man) Deans has agreed to be the onsite catering during the event. There will be some toilet facilities that weekend.
There will be more information to follow.

Hi Chris, this sounds interesting, what it it being staged for? other than publicity?

Shame about the small print about the passion though..... :-))))

There are several reasons for holding this event.

The original idea was to raise a few pounds for the Rother Valley meeting but it has grown into a day to show non-members all kinds of hovercraft.

With the noise sensitivity of this site, we cannot have an open hover-in so we have restricted it to running six nominated craft. It does mean that there is no pressure on anyone who brings a craft to make it perform.

Are you bringing yours? You can work on it here in front of an audience and you do like talking!

It is also a chance for some of the non-drivers to have a go in a craft. Club members will have friends/colleagues who would like to see what we are so passionate about (hovercraft).

I would have loved to have brought Taimah May but a 1000 mile round trip is too far for me I'm affraid.

Sounds good Chris, I was just wondering as I know Jake is having problems with one of his neighbours and I thought another event might inflame things.

I miss Jakes hoverins on bonfire night, they were a great social event! AND a great venue!

I will certainly earmark the day in my diary.

    Keep up the good work!

PS, say hi to "the boys" for me please.

This will be a quiet event. Lots of people talking about hovercraft.
